It also undertakes surveys of drug sensitive areas where illicit cultivation of drugs is prevalent and acts as a watch-dog for the governments to take suitable steps. Furthermore, it looks into the extent of drug abuse in different populatopns and makes suitable measures for raising awareness amongst populations as also preventive, treatment and rehabilitation policies that the governments need to develop to effectively deal with the problem of drug trafficking and drug abuse.
