Details of Achievements :

On 26th December 2004, a devastating earth quake followed by Tsunami struck the southern part of Asia including the Island territories of Andaman & Nicobar. The Tsunami waves killed thousands of people of these Islands, acres of agricultural lands got submerged which was the main source of livelihood of the farmers. Apart from that thousands of animals, houses and other sources of livelihood also got washed out. At that time few kind hearted people met and decided to provide their best services to the needy peoples at the time of distress. Accordingly they worked hard day and night to raise funds. Relief kits were distributed by this group of peoples. Later these people visited different relief camps and interacted with the victims. Thereafter, it was felt that many problems related to health, education, rehabilitation etc. needs to be addressed on priority basis. Accordingly as per the advice of Maulana A.P. Aboobacker Musliyar, General Secretary, Jamia Markaz, Kerala a society in the name of Markazu Ssaquafathi Ssunniyya Andaman, was constituted. Since then this NGO started working for the welfare of the needy and destitutes. As a step, a Madrassa was established in the year 2005 and free education to the students of the locality are being provided since then. Later the NGO was registered under Societies Registrattion Act 1860 in the year 2007 with its registered office at Wimeberly Gunj, Ferrar Gunj Tehsil, South Andaman. This NGO successfully arranged blood donation camps, aforestation activity, constructed many number of passenger waiting sheds, anti tobacco campaign etc. during the past years. The NGO was also working to establish a primary level school. After rounds of meeting and deliberation finally on 30th June, 2009 a school in the name of Markaz Public School was opened with mere 20 students by the lone Honourable Member of Parliament, A & N Islands Shri Bishnu Pada Ray in the presence of Maulana A.P. Aboobacker Musliyar. Now the Markaz Public School is running classes upto 3rd standard and around 100 students are getting educated here. The School is registered with Directorate of Education, A & N Administration upto primary level. This NGO since the inception of the MPS is striving hard to mould the students in a positive manner. The students actively participates in the inter school competitions. Other than that the school itself organizes various activities to broaden their intelligence and for the all round development like painting competition, singing, dancing, story telling, group discussion and various games . This NGO also organised free coaching for competitive examinations to the unemployed youths. This NGO promotes and appreciates the toppers of the CBSE examinations 10th and 12th, especially the students belongs to the minority communities. This NGO meet the travel expense of those poor students who got admitted in colleges located mainland. This NGO arranged counselling for the needy students. This NGO distributes free text books and uniforms to the poorest students of the MPS and also offers free education to the students of adjoining areas whose parents agricultural land were totally submerged in the Tsunami struck during 2004. This NGO is happy by seeing the development of the educational institution. To expand this school in near future the managing Committee acquired landed property of around 11,000 sqm in Kanyapuram at Model Village. The Managing Committee is planning to introduce vocational courses to the local people to make them self dependent. The School is planning to introduce smart classes by using the modern technology.
