Major Activities/Achievements : Activities under-taken by the Hari Singh Nalwa Foundation Trust since inception:

The first major project undertaken by the Hari Singh Nalwa Foundation Trust is as per article 3 (l) of the Objects for which the Trust was established, viz., Promotion of Indian Heritage through historical research and dissemination of such information through conventional and electronic media. (a) The work on a book outlining the life and times of the man after whom this trust has been named, viz., Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa, has been on since the year 2001. This project involved intensive collection of data at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels. This also involved extensive travel all over India. (b) Images pertaining to this period of history, which included photographs, paintings and artefacts from libraries and museums worldwide for illustration of the book on Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa, was undertaken. Information for this book primarily came from the almost two hundred year old records to be found in the National Archives of India. (c) The above material, collected over a period of eight years was carefully compiled into a book titled “Hari Singh Nalwa ― Champion of the Khalsaji”. (d) The 368 page colour-illustrated book has now been published. The entire expense of the collation, preparation, artwork, computer inputs, maps etc. including the printing has been borne by the Trustees. (e) The review of the book by an eminent historian and educationalist, Dr. Prithipal Kapur, Editor-in-Chief, Encyclopaedia of Sikhism, is attached. 2. The Foundation Trust has launched its website: www.harisinghnalwa.com 3. One of our Trustees, Dr. Vanit Nalwa, was invited by the National Museum of India to participate in the workshop cum seminar on the technique and development of the Basohli & Jammu School of paintings at the Kala Kendra, Jammu. She presented a talk titled “Hari Singh Nalwa in Kashmir”. The details have been enclosed. 4. The Trust undertook a resource generation project and contributed Rs. 10,000 to help rehabilitate the Mogya tribals residing around the Ranthambhore National Park as a part of the Save the Tiger project. 5. The second project to be undertaken by the Hari Singh Nalwa Foundation Trust is as per article 3 (c) of the Objects for which the Trust was established, viz., Conduct, support and finance, training programmes related to all aspects of education and family welfare. In this connection, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) agreed that the Trust would conduct a Training Program for Police Officers. A programme titled ‘The Human Face of the Police’ was planned and executed. The correspondence, name and mobile number of the co-ordinating officer, together with photographs taken during the training have been included. 6. A train-the-trainer programme was conducted for NIMH Model Special Education Centre, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The purpose of the training was to support professional growth of persons working as counsellors and facilitators with families of the differently-abled. The invitation letter is attached. 7. Free distribution of medicines through the aegis of the Phoolwati Jain Charitable Trust, New Delhi.
