Details of Achievements :

Major Activities/Achievements : GODHULI was constituted as a Charitable Society in May 1994 and registered under Societies Registration Act 1860 on 15.09.94 with the avowed aim of taking up projects for the basic education of street children in terms of Article 45 of the Constitution of India under which free and compulsory education up to 14 years of age i.e. Class VIII was to be provided to every child by January 26, 1960, a right denied to many Indian children to this day. GODHULI provides free education with teaching, study materials and school uniforms, all free of any charge, so that the poorest families are encouraged to send their children to school instead of using them in the household or as child labourers. The children and their parents, particularly the mothers, have shown an excellent response to this effort. Presently, schools are being run in Meera Bagh (West Delhi) in two shifts, Khichripur (East Delhi) in two shifts and in Orissa. In addition, coaching to weak students of Class VI to X is being provided free of cost beyond school hours. Students with good aptitude are being given training in Computers also so as to enable them to get suitable placements. Picnics for the children are regularly organized to important locations such as Delhi Zoo, Children’s park, India Gate, Qutab Minar etc. Functions are held on National Days which include presentation of musical programme with dance performance by the students followed by prizes to winners and distribution of sweets. We make efforts to prepare the children for the responsibilities, opportunities and experiences of life. Our goal is to develop in children mutual respect for each other, support for each other and a caring and sensitive attitude towards the environment.
