Major Activities/Achievements : GHALIB ACADEMY Registered Society (Registration No. 3888 of 1968-69) is an educational and cultural institution of National importance. Hakim Abdul Hamid is founder President of this Academy.It was inaugurated on the 22nd February, 1969 by the Late. Dr. Zakir Hussain, President of India, It has been established in memory of MIRZA ASADULLAH KHAN GHALIB whose pre-eminence in the cherished art of poetry and prose, is a fact of which we have every reason to be proud. The ACADEMY has a Museum on GHALIB AND HIS AGE, Research Library, an art Gallery, Research section,Publication, Book Centre(Sale Counter) ,an Auditorium and Computerized Calligraphy Training Centre in collaboration with National Council for Promotion of Urdu language, (Govt. of India) New Delhi. The Library of the ACADEMY provides facilities to scholars on GHALIB AND HIS AGE and even to the foreign scholars who benefit from it. Its Museum is Replete with exhibits and objects recapturing some of the reminiscences and glimpses of the period of GHALIB. The Ghalib Academy has a community of the experts to recommended standard research work to be published in different languages. The publications of GHALIB ACADEMY are considered to be an addition to scholarship and have won tremendous applause. Ghalib Academy has so far published (24) twenty-four books. In short period of 30 years, the ACADEMY has succeeded in achieving recognition from a large number of Noble laureates, Academicians and Orientalists, not less than 18 of whom are its Honorary Members. The Ghalib Academy has an art Gallery, which has 25 paintings by eminent Artists of the country such as Satish Gujral, G.R.Santosh, Biren De, Anis Farooqi, Laxman Pai and M.F. Hussain etc. The Auditorium of THE ACADEMY is functioning as a forum for education and literary uplift. Distinguished Scholars and renowned personalities visit the ACADEMY and speak on GHALIB AND HIS AGE or any other topics of literature. The Ghalib Academy has visited by thousand of Indian as well as Foreign Scholars, Writers, Poets and academicians, who have paid eloquent tributes to its activities and work. Scholars both Indian and Foreign have evinced keep interest in the ACADEMY, finding in it wide and rich collection of books which nowhere else is available. The ACADEMY is going at its best for the development of Urdu, one of the languages recognized by the constitution of India, one constructive line with the aim to strengthen National Integration and fraternity. The ACADEMY organizes several Literary and Cultural Programs on famous Urdu Poets like GHALIB and IQBAL etc. It also organizes Seminars, Workshops, Exhibition and Literary meeting etc.
