Details of Achievements :
Major Activities/Achievements : Gati was formed as a multi-purpose society in the year 1997. Besides issues like gender empowerment,sports & youth affairs,labor rights, judicial reforms,local self governance,prevention of child labor,stopping domestic violence,safety of rag pickers,waste management,preventing female infanticide,fighting social evils like dowry Gati’s major work has been on environmental issues. Gati has been at the forefront in Ridge Bachao Andolan and Yamuna Satyagraha. Gati efforts, including a PIL in Supreme Court, have resulted in protection of ridge forest areas at Vasant Vihar Mahipal Pur ridge Gati believes in building a sound scientific knowledge base before advocating in front of authorities. Research studies done by Gati members have been published in reputed science journals like Current Science. It is with a strong scientific base, we pursued our efforts to protect Yamuna Flood Plains for water conservation. On 17 June, 2008, the Lt. Governor of Delhi, heading Yamuna River Development Authority(YRDA) declared moratorium on further constructions on Yamuna Flood Plains and have preserved them for water conservation and bio diversity. This land mark decision has also been notified in MPD 2021 Our works have enjoyed prominent media coverage in major dailies and T.V channels.
