Major Achievements of Bal Vikas Dhara : Domestic Women Workers, Single women, Widows Women Worker etc: • Men are now sharing in household work and also giving respect and recognizing them (women) as earning members of family. • Now the Bal Vikas Dhara & Mahila Panchayat (Virangana) is working as a court and has solved over 250 cases like – domestic violence, dowry, exploitation by employers etc. They sit in every Wednesday. • Total numbers of Bal Vikas Dhara & Mahila Panchayat Members have been extended up to 700. • The Domestic worker women federation is extending its membership up to 220. • Bal Vikas Dhara has more over 16 cases of bonded and exploitative employment were handled successfully till this period. Rag Pickers Group: • Total rag Pickers membership has extended up to 2000 in which Active Leaders are 60. • In order to secure the citizenship of migrant workers and to make the Rag Pickers self reliant, 120 Rag pickers opened their Saving Bank Account with the Bank of Baroda. • Government resources were mobilized for the fire victims (Rag Pickers). Rs. 51,000 was provided for 51 families, more over, they got 100 Tents, 550 Blankets, 1100 kg rice 600 kg Vegetable in January 2007. • 121 children’s birth certificates have been issued by the Govt. of Delhi. • 62 Members of Parliament have supported the issues of Rag pickers directly. • The Rag Pickers Federation is strengthening rapidly and venturing into South and South West Delhi. • Two cooperative groups have been formed with the primary membership of twenty Rag pickers in each group & working as saving and credit group. Youth Group: • Youths from the community are taking part in a State Level Task Force which is working to ensure the children/girl children right to Education. • More than 250 youth are the member of Navshakti Federation. • Youth members are organizing meetings on regular basis to discuss and develop action plans on various community related issues especially young girls’ issues. Children: • Children from the community are actively taking part in Bal Panchayat activities. • Leaders of Bal Panchayat (180) held regular meetings with their own initiative to ensure enrollment of all children specially girl children in school. • 25 children are the active Bal Panchayat leader. • 1500 children mainstreamed to formal schools.
