Abhayam Tripunithura is based at Tripunithura, Cochin, Kerala, Abhayam Tripunithura is a registered charitable society engaged in various charitable activities since April 1980. Abhayam Tripunithura is well known to the public for its selfless, dedicated and multi varied charitable activities for the betterment of poor and needy. Its blemish less track record in accountability and independence from political and religious bias make it acceptable in the society. Donations to Abhayam Tripunithura are exempt from tax under section 80G of the Income-tax Act. Activities Medical Relief AMBULANCE:- Since 1989 Abhayam Tripunithura has been serving the public with 24×7 Ambulance Unit, aimed at the needs of the poor. EYE DONATION CAMPAIGN:- Abhayam persuades people to pledge their eyes for donation and works with Kerala Eye Bank Association to collect and relocate eyes with the help of many surgeons and hospitals. EYE CAMPS:- Free eye camps are organized in rural, thickly populated and economically backward areas where medical facilities are rarely available. Medicines, spectacles and surgical remedies are provided free of cost with supports from ophthalmologists, opticians, Doctors, hospitals and Blindness Control Society. NATIONAL PROGRAMME FOR ERADICATION OF BLINDNESS:- Abhayam takes this up along with District Blindness Control Society, headed by the District Collector. Medicines, tests, spectacles, surgeries and follow up treatment are provided free of cost. BLOOD DONATION UNIT:- With the help of IMA Blood Bank and many other voluntary organizations, Abhayam conducts regular blood drawing camps. The IMA has awarded Abhayam with first position in the Organizational Category for the last three years. GROUP MEDICAL INSURANCE:- Abhayam provides medical insurance to thousands of families. HOMEOPATHIC CLINIC:- Well known homoeo doctors provide free service and medicines are distributed free of cost. EYE CLINIC:- The clinic is with all modern testing facilities and a team of sixteen well known doctors. While Abhayam provides spectacles free of cost, cataract surgeries and follow up treatments are provided by doctors in their respective hospitals, free of cost. AYURVEDIC CLINIC : Well known Ayurvedic Scholor Swami Nirmalandagiri Maharaj consults the patients once in a month, free of cost. Relief of the Poor MID DAY MEAL:- Seventy students from two local Government High Schools who are not entitled to free food provided by the Government but are economically backward are provided with free mid day meal. The scheme is running without fail for the past twenty years. ENDOWMENTS, SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS:- Financial assistance is provided to students from schools to professional colleges to meet expenses on fees, books, travel, uniforms, etc. In order to encourage children, Abhayam provides awards to toppers along with merit certificates. Education EDUCATION CENTRE:- Poor and deserving students at various levels are given tuition at free or subsidized rates by reputed teachers. COMPUTER EDUCATION CENTRE:- Abhayam runs a fully fledged computer centre with sixteen stations, providing quality and recognized training to large number of people. TAILORING UNIT:- Abhayam has been maintaining a tailoring unit with to empower poor and economically backward girls. With excellent and professional training these girls are made capable of starting tailoring shops to look after themselves.
