Details of Achievements :

AAPSI is working on Geriatric and Palliative Care Givers Training Project Worked on Zero Budget Natural Farming, Organic Farming, Conflict Resolution,Peace Initiative,Education. AAPSI, an NGO initiative since 1997 has launched an initiative for making Youth, especially women, and those from the Backward castes, Scheduled castes and those not so well off self sufficient by training them as employable Health Care Providers ( called TATHASTU). It has been inspired by H. H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji founder of The Art of Living.
The Unique features of the Project being done by AAPSI are that it will generate Health Care Providers, who will be called sarathi and will be adept in Geriatric Care as well as Palliative Care and place them in the job market through Helpage an down Helpline as Trustworthy, Reliable, Young, God fearing Health Care Providers. Initially the batch will consist of about 40 to 50 Girls/ladies and Boys/Men. The proposed Age Group is 16 to 50 years for both boys and girls and Minimum Qualification is 7th Pass or 8th appeared. The idea is that the person should have a working knowledge of various languages to carry out the tasks assigned to her/him. Besides they should be Physically fit, Strong and Healthy.
AAPSI focus is Employment Generation which will be provided by the family availing the services which will give blessings and also is expected to pay a decent honorarium of about Rs 3000 to 3500 p.m. plus boarding lodging ( or Rs 5000 p.m. without board/lodge) to the Health Care Providers. Each trainee will be recommended by at least 3 eminent persons of his locality and only after background check will they be placed. A dossier for Background Check of the Care Provider will be created with photo identity cards of the persons recommending her/his name for the training and provided to the family availing services as also to the local police station.
The training will be based on Syllabus borrowed in parts from N.I.S.D. (National Institute of Social Defense), Help-age, National Open School and International experience in this area. It will consist of 4 months intensive training: 1 week spiritual, 8 weeks theory+ language /communication skills, 10 weeks INTERNSHIP and REPORTING SKILLS. Naturopathy and Essential English will also be taught to the candidates apart from learning to drive a car within the city over short distances. The training centre will be at a premises which has been specially leased by us for this purpose. The training will be Residential preferably but in exceptional circumstances the trainees will be allowed to operate as day scholars.
Training is expected to cost Rs 3500 p.m. which the sponsor is expected to pay for at least 4 months. Hostel arrangements will be made for the girls/ladies at the All India Women�s Conference Hostel which will cost about Rs 1300 pm extra. Mattresses we will try to provide, but the trainees must bring bedsheets/pillows etc along. They must also get a set of small utensils like Katori, Glass, spoons, Knife etc. along. They will be encouraged to bring Dry Rations along (Dals, Cereals, Spices, Ghee etc). Kitchen etc will be Self management by trainees and Wet Rations will be procured with the sponsorship amount and supplemented through Donations.
Qualified volunteers and trainers from various wakes of life will jointly train the candidates who will be kept engaged positively from morning 6 am to evening 8 pm. During and after the training the trainees will be evaluated from time to time by professionals from the Geriatric field. The trainees will also be encourage dto go for higher studies through National Open school curriculum.
Efforts will be made by  AAPSI to positively engage the Youth for an year at least by including 4 months training and 8 months role as Paid Volunteer for service to unaccompanied patients at PGI / GMCH Sec 32 Chandigarh and the various Partnership Initiative Programmes in Chandigarh and the Tricity.
