Details of Achievements :
Major Activities/Achievements of Foundation for Development Initiative : A group of development professionals came together to establish the Foundation for Development Initiative in the year 2001. FDI has now grown into a consortium of individuals, organisations and businesses working towards a common goal. FDIs foremost goals in the development process is the creation of enabling environments through fostering public private partnerships and capacity enhancement of stakeholders. FDIs mission is to coordinate an integrated approach to development, by assembling under a single umbrella, and forming collaborations with the grass-root organisations, communities, businesses and individuals working in the sector. Most of the organisations working with communities in backward, remote, less accessible villages are small grassroots organisations, which do not have the knowledge, the expertise or the resources to undertake sustainable and far-reaching development initiatives. FDI has partnered close to 120 small organisations working with communities on the fringe of developmental focus, providing them with technical assistance, information and consultation services in the development and implementation of community-based programs. FDI has so far set up state chapters in Tamilnadu, Uttaranchal, Orissa, West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand.
