Major Activities/Achievements : The Srishtikon Dance Foundation has been a professional dance organisation which has had a repertory of professional dancers and musicians, and has had the opportunity of representing india on many international forums and the privilege of performing in major dance festivals across india and the world. We strive not only to rehearse and perform classical kathak but also try to expand boundaries, put in contemporary sensibilities and explore a new body of movement. 80% of our work and performances are in kathak and 20@ in contemporary dance which is based on kathak. This year we had been invited to perform at the worlds largest and most prestigious arts festival, the Edinburgh International Festival 2012. We are the only kathak dance company except maestro pt. Birju maharaj, who has been invited in the history of this festival. We presented both of classical and contemporary dance based on kathak at this festival and received great critical acclaim. In the past couple of years we have produced innumerable new productions that have been both classical and contemporary in nature and presented many solos as well as group work. Every two years we present the drishtikon repertory artists in solos/ group work all choreographed by the themselves. We have consistently collaborated with well known artists in india and around the globe in the field of music, painting, architecture, sculpture and design to imbibe from their input and to use their expertise for each production. Many of these artists are not only well known in india but have an international reputation, such as Ustaad Amjad Ali Khan Saheb, Shubha Mudgal, Aneesh Pardhan, Vani Subramanian to mention a few. We have collaborated with several international artists and in the future would like to continue to do so, so that ideas are exchanged, challenged and the company brings an international flavour into it without loosing its roots.
