Major Activities/Achievements : The Delhi Education Society was set up in 1951 Dr. Zakir Husain along with the other prominent persons of that time. It manages and runs a number of schools in the walled city area of Delhi included the over 300yrs old Anglo Arabic School and nearly 100yrs old Shafiq Memorila School. The Anglo Arabic School was probably the first secular educational institution of its kind in India and has had a long history of glory and fame. Some of its alumni and faculty are Liaqat Ali Khan, J.N. Dixit, Gopi Chand Narang, Khwaja Ahmed Faruqui and Deputy Nazir Ahmed.The Building of the Anglo Arabic School is also a Heritage Monument and got Urban Heritage Award in 1993.The society envisages to empower the children and youth of the Community by Providing an enabling environment and access to opportunities to grow as enlightened citizens of the nation.The Society hopes to establish in the near future higher education institutions, especially a college for girls and take steps to help the community.
