The Centre For Mohiniyattam, founded by Bharati Shivaji, is solely devoted to research, training and propagation of Mohiniyattam. Since its establishment CFM has played a significant role in the reconstruction of the dance form, revitalizing its repertoire and expanding the parameters of its technique and idiom which had remained limited. Over the years, CFM has widened the audience for this graceful dance form through its innumerable and diverse presentations both within and outside the country. CFM has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in India and around the globe including the Lincoln Center, New York, the Bolshoi theatre, Moscow, the Cervantino festival Mexico and the Edinburgh festival. The relentless efforts of Bharati Shivaji, the founder director of CFM and Vijayalakshmi have ensured that today Mohiniyattam has not only come to be acknowledged as one of the major classical dance forms of India but has been firmly ensconced on the world map. Vijayalakshmi the artistic director of CFM has been teaching extensively and has gained rich experience in grooming many a talented dancers who are today promising dancers int heir own right. she has undertaken teh demanding taks of managing artistic and administrative functioning of CFM. Her role as performer, teacher, researcher, author and administrator ahve immensely helped in establishing CFM as one of the most reputed institutions devoted to the cause of Mohiniyattam in India today.
