Major Activities/Achievements : Institute of Public Health and Hygiene (IPH&H) is one of the leading autonomous teaching institutions in the Country today, offering almost all the allied health Under and Post graduate Certificates, Diplomas and Degree taught in the various parts of the world.
IPH&H was established in July 1976 by (Late)Dr. Shyam Sunder Joshi, whose visionary ideals led him to envision and create an Institution that was inclusive-it opened it’s the doors to the world-and engaged in service in collaboration with the Country. It is a Co-educational Institute cantering to students from all walks of life. IPH&H has admitted students of both sexes and every race and religion. It is with pride that we count many students from all parts of the World among our alumni, in the heart of the city, for the service of the Country. The Institute’s founder was also ahead of his time in engaging the Institute in direct service to the community viz. Community Health-Care Services, Free Rural Mobile Health Services, Free Rural Community Public School (Primary Education), Immunization Programme, Service & Rehabilitation to Disabled, HIV/AIDS Awareness Programmes, much long before such services were available.

Since 1984 the Institute is a Pre-Release Training Centre for the Govt. of India Min. of Defence (DGR), New Delhi and is training in-service nominated candidates from the Army, Navy & Airforce ,various State Governments viz., Govt. of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Chandigarh Administration, Ladakh Hill Council, North Eastern Hill Council, University of Delhi, Members of Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, International Airport Authority of India, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Cement Corporation of India, TELCO, UNO, Sanjay Gandhi P.G.I. of Medical Sciences, RIMS Medical College, Indian Airlines, Children’s Home, Private Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Organisations, Institutions, Establishments, Northern Railway etc.
The IPH&H is a Member of the Bureau of Indian Standard (ISI), New Delhi a statutory Body of Govt. of India for ” Standardization” in all fields.

The Institute has been recognised as vocational training provider in the Medical, Electronics,Hospitality and IT Management sectors by the Director of Technical Education and Training, Govt. of NCT Delhi under SDi-MES scheme of the Govt. of India and is also providing training to the CRPF personnel in First Aid/Med. Lab. Technician/X-Ray & ECG Technician .
