Major Activities/Achievements : FOUNDATION FOR AMITY AND NATIONAL SOLIDARITY founded in 1984 to spread the message of Amity and National Solidarity throughout the country. ACTIVITIES NATIONAL INTEGRATION YOUTH CAMPS Youth are the future architects of the country and towards that end the Foundation has organised 12 All India Inter-University Youth Camps at New Delhi, Madurai, Guwahati, Pondicherry, Mysore, Bijapur , Patiala Anand, Jammu, Shantineketan, Varanasi Coimbatore, Newasa and Shrirampur. More than 300 students participated in each of these camps. The activities during the camp include- a) Group Discussions b) National Group Song Competition c) Peace March d) Inter-Religious Meet e) Cultural Activities PEACE MARCH Foundation organises Peace Marches to spread the message of harmony and brotherhood. It has organised Peace Marches in Hubli (Karnataka), Shimla, Lucknow, Jaipur, Bijapu, Mysore, Srirampur, Pandarpur, Patiala , Jammu etc. AMITY SCHOLARSHIP For social and economic upliftment of the society the Foundation has launched a Scholarship Scheme – AMITY SCHOLARSHIP for the deserving underprivileged students. NATIONAL AMITY AWARD The Award is presented to an Indian who has devoted his life for the cause of National Integration and Social Harmony. The Award comprises a token sum of Rs. One Lac and a Citation. The recipients have been eminent jurist Late Nani A. Palkhivala, Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, Jathedar Jiwan Singh Umranangal, Nirmala Deshpande, Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Khushwant Singh. REHABILITATION CENTRE Foundation established a rehabilitation centre for the handicapped Archana Viklang Punarvas Kendra, Guwahati in December 1995. It provides artificial limbs free of cost and also undertakes vocational training for the affected individuals. It has fitted 164 artificial limbs. TV SERIAL To promote national integration, FANS produced and sponsored a TV Serial “Yeh Gulistan Hamara” on Doordarshan.It was telecast twice by Doordarshan. SEMINARS & WORKSHOPS The Foundation communicates its ideas and ideals through numerous seminars and workshops organized at different places in the country from time to time PUBLICATIONS A Research and Publication Wing of the Foundation is publishing books dealing with various aspects of National Integration and Communal Harmony. a) Education for National Integration. b) Delinking Religion and Politics. . c) Words of Wisdom. d) Basic Constitutional Values. e) Nation and Polity Under Strain. RECOGNITIONS The awards conferred on FANS are 1. National award (1989) by Indian Federation of Small and Medium Newspapers at Lucknow. 2. Best production award on TV Serial on National Integration by Jain Sahib Cultural Organisation Delhi ,September 30, 1990. 3. Indira Gandhi National Unity Award by All India National Unity Congress. 1990. 4. For contribution towards National Integration by Ghalib Academy by Giani Zail Singh, Former President of India, March 27, 1993. 5. For outstanding contribution towards national integration Janmabhoomi’s C.U. Shah National Integration Award by Saurashtra Trust, Mumbai in 1994 6. Honoured by Khwaja Gharib-un-Nawas Welfare Centre for Communal Harmony November 2, 1996. 7. Harmony Man of the Year 1996 by the Inter Religious Harmony Movement, Bangalore.
