Details of Achievements :
Centre for Alternative Dalit Media (CADAM) is supportive organisation or legal body of the National Confederation of Dalit Organisations (NACDOR). The mission of the National Confederation of Dalit Organisations (NACDOR) is to eliminate prejudices, discrimination, hatred and inequalities based on caste, race, ethnicity or gender by the initiative, self-help, unity and action of the marginalised communities, specially the Dalits (The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and other socially excluded communities). NACDOR works directly at the grass-root level with a strategy to effectively build capacity of the marginalized communities and its organic leadership to strengthen their capacity to effectively lobbying, advocacy, networking and mobilizing so that it ensure all-round development and emancipation of the community. It intervenes to protect them from human right violations and abuses and support to safeguards their constitutional rights, implementation of the Scheduled Castes and the Schedule Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989, and other laws, covenants, treaties, declarations, resolutions of International bodies and United Nations that support the protection and promotion of Human Rights. Activities: • State levels capacity building training program for organic activist and leaders from marginalized community, which is largely affected by the caste violence in India with special focus on women, who are defending human rights at the grass-root level. • Organizing education, awareness and sensitization campaign through mass-meeting and Campaign in the 8 states • Under taking fact findings and investigations of the issues related to practice of untouchability, discrimination/atrocities against Dalit, especially focusing on violation of Human Rights of Dalit women and collecting sufficient evidences for evidence based advocacy for effectively advocacy, lobbying and action for protection, promotions and taking up cases in the Court of law. • Providing legal support to free and fair access to justice to the marginalized communities, especially focusing on women through partner human rights organisations and develop, promote & strengthen national or regional human rights mechanisms. • Organizing advocacy meeting with policy makers, government officials, political party etc. to protect and promote of international human rights standards, including various covenants, treaties, declarations, resolutions of United Nations. • To published a bi-monthly fact sheet on Marginalised community human rights.
