Amba Foundation is registered under the Societies Registration Act Amba Foundation is a non government organization working in the field of education ,health and community development. Its focus is on underprivileged people with special emphasis on children and women. The Organization was founded in October 1999. Amba Foundation started working on the first project with a handful of eager children in an open courtyard of a neighborhood Jhuggi Cluster Today Amba has grown into a multidimensional entity working on welfare projects with an involved worker, community and volunteer base. It is running a Gender Resource Center and Suvidha Kendra which provides holistic development of women and young girls. The center provides vocational training to over 150 women in the target area having one lac population. Free healthcare is also provided to women and children. It is running weekly and daily clinics and also holds monthly Health Camps in the communities. It also provides legal counseling and help at its Gender Resource Center. Our Suvidha Kendra conducted a door to door survey to identify vulnerable households to identify eligible persons for government welfare schemes The Organization runs Non Formal Education programs for under privileged Children. Educational support is provided to school and non school going children. The focus group under this project is children in the age group 4 to15 years living in the adjoining slums & colonies. They are taught basic reading ,writing and maths to help them improve their performance at school. The Organization has provided basic education and educational support to over 1500 children so far. Dance and theatre is part of the education program for overall personality development of the children. It is used as a means to educate and create awareness among them on various social issues Under the Health Programs The Organization is running a health center/dispensary in Majboor Nagar JJ cluster for the benefit of the slum dwellers and adjoining areas. The Center offers free consultancy by qualified and dedicated doctors and free medicines to all the patients. Under this program 12000 patients have been given treatment at the center in the last one year. The organization is also part of the Reproductive & Child health program of the Government of India Under this program the Organization covers a population of 15000 and provides weekly ANC and PNC check ups to pregnant women ,free distribution of folic acid and calcium, family planning advise along with free distribution of Condoms & OCPs and treatment for RTI and urinary tract infections . This program has provided services to over 1200 women in the last 1 year. Achievements & Accolades: Our work & activities has been appreciated & covered by the national media from time to time. Our Organization was given the Bhagadari Award in 2007 by the Chief Minister of Delhi for holding Stree Shakti Health Camps in East Delhi. Our Organization also won the overall Team Trophy in 2006 & 2008 at the YMCA Yuva Utsav & Ngo Mela held in New Delhi.
